Current Role

  I was elected to the Trinity Town Council in 2012 and will be serving my second term of office.

Married to Kim Pettey, and have two sons and two daughters. I am semi-retired from BP Chemicals, after 12 years of employment as a Operations Technician, and a Business Owner in Trinity.

I have been a citizen of Trinity my entire life, and my extended family has a long history of service to the Town of Trinity. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws have all served the community in some capacity for the last 60 years. I enjoy carrying on the tradition, and want to give back to the community as an elected official or as a volunteer.

Councilmember Trinity Town Place #2: Gordon Burden

Current Role

I was first elected to the Town Council in 2008 and will be serving my third term.  I will serve as the liaison for the Building Inspector, Street and Water Departments.

 

I was born in Florence, Alabama in 1960. I attended school in Lawrence County and graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1979. I was employed by Bunge Corp. from June 1979 until May 1992. While still employed with Bunge Corp., I started Southern Fence & Deck Inc. in May 1989 as a side business. I resigned May 1992 from Bunge to invest more time into growing my fence business and currently the owner of  Southern Fence & Deck Inc. located at 646 Old Trinity Road.
I am married to Beth Powell Burden. We have one son Blake, who resides in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Gordon and Beth are active members of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Councilmember Trinity Town Place #4: Beth P. Burden

I ran unopposed for the Trinity Town Council, took office November 7th of 2016, and currently serving my first term as councilwoman.  I serve as the liaison for the Office, Street and Water Departments.

I was born in Decatur, Alabama and graduated from Austin High School in 1982. I’m married to Gordon Burden and we have a son Blake and daughter in law Desiree who reside in Northport, Alabama.  I’ve been employed at Decatur Morgan Hospital since June 1987.  It’s a privilege and honor to be able to serve the residents of Trinity.

Councilmember Place #5: Richard Fortson, Jr.

Current Role

I am on my fifth term as an elected City Councilman for Trinity, AL., serving since 2001(served as Mayor Pro Tem 2012-2016).  I will serve as the liaison for the Police and Fire Departments, and the Street and Water Departments.  I moved to Trinity from Huntington Beach, CA in 1999 for a job promotion with the Boeing Company.  I love living in Trinity, the people really make Trinity a great place to call home. 

Hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and graduated with honors

Past  Responsibilities

Spent 29 years at McDonnel Douglas/Boeing/United Launch Alliance with a wide range of management experience prior to joining McDonnell Douglas/Boeing/ULA, I served in the United States Army in the elite 1st Calvary Division Horse Platoon (traveling around the United States re-enacting the old Calvary on horseback). This unit is a ceremony and recruiting tool for the United States Army.  The unit participates in Presidential Inaugural parades, Tournament of Roses Parades and thousands of state local events.

Served as an Officer for the Travis County Sheriff’s Department While at the Sheriff’s Department I was asked to design and lead the first boot camp on county level in the nation for the convicted offenders program.  The program was designed for non violent first time convicted offenders who if selected could choose to complete a 180 day boot camp or serve the given sentence in state prison.

Outside Interest

Enjoys working out, golf, tennis, riding my motorcycle.  Single with two grown kids, a son who lives in Southern California and a daughter who lives in Hawaii with my two grandchildren.  I love spending time with my 2 toy Austrian Sheppard’s.  But what tops it all is watching college and professional football.
